Abdul designs book covers for HMD Publishing's clients, working from the manuscript and the market it is aimed at rather than from a template. He develops concepts, refines them with the author, and produces the final print and digital artwork including spine and back cover. A cover has two jobs at HMD: hold up at full size in a reader's hands, and still be readable as a thumbnail on a phone screen.
