Sofia is a Book Formatter at HMD Publishing, turning finished manuscripts into files that are ready to print and ready to sell. She sets interiors for paperback and hardback, converts the same text to reflowable eBook formats, and checks that margins, running heads, page numbers and chapter openings behave correctly from the first page to the last. Her work is the stage where a manuscript stops being a document and starts being a book.
